Two Hasty Lists on San Francisco

I still haven’t written on the subject of San Francisco. There are still so many places/things I haven’t seen/experienced, that I feel like I haven’t yet earned the right. But until I feel justified to write an actual post on the city, for those curians (those who are curious) who prefer not to or are unable to ask me in person, due to disabilities physical, mechanical, digital, or otherwise, I present for your consumption, two lists, which will, I hope, appease the impatient.

Things I like about San Francisco:

  1. Coffee shops with eclectic couches and free wifi
  2. Bicycle lanes
  3. All the people riding bicycles
  4. The Zen center
  5. Donation Yoga class
  6. The public library’s movie collection
  7. Golden Gate Park
  8. Delores park
  9. Yerba Buena Park
  10. All the skinny people
  11. Chinatown
  12. The Mission district
  13. Wall murals
  14. Random pieces of sculpture
  15. Ocean
  16. My room cube
  17. The curious, inexplicable things that I see on a daily basis
  18. The burritos
  19. Tu Lan Vietnamese Restaurant
  20. Bookstores
  21. Amoeba Records
  22. Good tunes being piped everywhere
  23. Farmer’s markets
  24. The remarkable number of conversations regarding abstract ideas with people of which I otherwise know very little

Things I don’t like about San Francisco:
  1. The outrageous price of my room cube
  2. The locks I needed to put on my bike
  3. The look people give me when I say I’m from Texas, but not from Austin
  4. Stepping over homeless people on my way home
  5. Ignoring the homeless people shouting profanities into the cosmos
  6. Avoiding the homeless people fighting with each other
  7. Feeling guilty for being a complicit animal murderer and being OK with it
