The Nymph pt 2

When your light faded, I found myself alone at a deserted intersection on the other side of the city. I had followed you deep into the night. I looked for the face of the moon, but it was gone, hidden behind a mask of rain clouds.
I let the rain dampen my hair and opened my hand. There was your body, barely the size of a fingernail, resting lifeless on my palm. The light in your tail flickered briefly and then no more.

I took a small jar from my jacket pocket and placed you in it. The latest addition to my collection of dead fireflies.
