The First Gathering of Team L
We formed a foreigner soccer team to compete next week with a Korean team that Gabe’s Korean girlfriend knows. There are five of us now. Two Americans, one Irish, one Canadian, and one Indian. To confuse the Koreans, we decided to all adopt nicknames which begin with the letter ‘L’. Differentiating between the L sound and the R sound is very difficult for Koreans. So “lazy” becomes “razy” and “last,” “rast” and so on.
We are Larry, Leo, Luigi, Liam, and Lazarus. Yours truly assuming the Biblical moniker. We believe the ensuing chaos will give us the necessary edge, since most of us have not played soccer in quite some time.
Today was our first practice and the first time I’ve really kicked a soccer ball in almost a year probably. I think the last time was in Budapest.. back in August. It felt so good to just goof around for two hours playing soccer. It’s been a long time since I’ve participated in any physical competitive activity at all, unless you count chess.
In other news, I graduated from beginner Korean class today.
In other news, I’m going to see Transformers tonight.
