By the Lake
This little grinning man on a red bicycle stacked high with various rice snacks for sale rolled up to our gathering. We were having a barbeque for Matt’s birthday. Steaks, cheese, A1 sauce, chips and salsa. The whole enchilada.
Apparently one of Matt’s friends had met this guy before, because the guy starts yelling “you number 1! You number 1.” He gets off his bike and starts doing this crazy dance. Twisting his body side to side and kicking his legs. Not to any particular rhythm. Then he stops suddenly, grins and gives us thumbs up.
He handed out popped rice cakes to everyone and made sure everyone had more than they ever wanted. Speaking Korean and grinning the whole time. He was missing one tooth in his immaculately white set.
Dax gave him a beer which he chugged and then started dancing again like his life depended on it. He took Dax’s hand and made him join him.
They danced there, like two lunatics by the lake, the smell of searing meat wafting through the air.
Happy Buddha’s birthday!
No work today.
