Back In Pest

Uploaded zillions of photos. we have come to call budapest home. and it sure feels like it after rushing around prague and vienna.

a brief comparison of the cities-
prague-a bustling touristy city where i was surpised how much english i heard on the streets. design is most prevalent in this city, and many of the posters around town were notable. great history seemed tarnished by the souvenir stands. we didnt have a good chance to acquaint ourselves with the city since we were only there three days and lived a ways outside of town. a youth oriented crowd from all over the world. felt remarkably insincere and dangerous not to mention a but grumpy.
vienna- here we stayed smack in the middle of the city. old fashioned slow paced and proud of it. i saw a post card that was totally black with the inscription in german -vienna at night- i thought that was pretty clever. a very enjoyable city. full to the brim with art and culture (home to large collections of gustav klimt and egon schiele paintings), we barely had a chance to scrape the surface of what the city could offer in the six days we were there. however all this beauty and culture and safety comes at a price. it was by and large the most expensive city we have visited.

budapest- the most grungy of all the cities and im pretty sure the most affordable. oddly enough the art students havent had a chance to see any museums here. i like the people here though. jus tthe day to day interactions seem the most natural though the language barrier is the widest, as english is spoken much less here. at no time have i felt particularly threatened here, though perhaps that is merely a matter of perception. the only downside is that we dont get free breakfast here.

id like to make an amendment to a previous statement. i stated before that nobody was willing to discuss issues. i would like to recant that claim. since then i have been engaged in a number of feisty and enjoyable discussions over such issues as abortion, gay marriage, death penalty, and stem cell research. the timing before was just poor i think. and in fact, i think i have had my fill of controversial topics for a while.

well my photos are done loading. if you are bored go spend a few years looking through them, i am sure that at least one of them is ok.
